Building Platforms, Modernizing Systems, and Documenting the Process

Software development stopped being just “writing code” a long time ago.

Today, building modern platforms means balancing architecture, infrastructure, scalability, product design, automation, cloud hosting, developer workflows, security, maintainability, and increasingly… AI-assisted development.

This section of the site is where I document that work.

Over the years, the focus evolved from small standalone open-source projects into rebuilding and operating full modern web platforms — from legacy system modernization and cloud infrastructure to sports simulation technology, experimental tools, and long-term product development.

Some projects are active products. Some are experiments. Some are modernization case studies. Some are simply lessons learned from years of building and maintaining real systems.

The common thread across all of them is practical engineering.

You’ll find:

  • platform architecture discussions
  • modernization journals
  • infrastructure and hosting work
  • AI-assisted development workflows
  • technical deep dives
  • archived and past projects
  • and the occasional experiment that somehow became a real product

The goal isn’t to chase trends or publish tutorial-farm content.

It’s to share the real-world process of building, rebuilding, maintaining, and evolving software over time.

Current Areas of Focus

  • Modern PHP & JavaScript application architecture
  • Cloud infrastructure and platform operations
  • Legacy system modernization
  • Sports simulation and fantasy league technology
  • AI-assisted development workflows
  • Multi-site and multi-platform ecosystem management
  • Long-term maintainable engineering practices

Current Projects

These are the platforms, systems, and active development efforts currently shaping my engineering work.

  • Some are live production platforms.
  • Some are modernization initiatives.
  • Some are experimental tools exploring new technologies and workflows.

Together, they represent the ongoing evolution of my web ecosystem — from cloud infrastructure and platform architecture to sports simulation technology and modern web development.

SimLeaguesPro

The Online League Operating System

SimLeaguesPro is a modern web platform built for online sports simulation leagues, beginning with the Out of the Park Baseball community.

What started as a modernization effort evolved into a complete rebuild of an aging ecosystem — including league hosting workflows, fantasy systems, commissioner tooling, file management, cloud infrastructure, and league operations.

The platform combines:

  • league hosting and operations
  • commissioner tools
  • fantasy league systems
  • modern member management
  • cloud-based workflows
  • platform modernization
  • and long-term scalable architecture

Built with modern technologies, cloud infrastructure, and AI-assisted workflows, SimLeaguesPro represents the largest and most ambitious engineering project currently under active development.

Rebuilding the Web Stack: From Legacy Code to Modern Cloud

A complete, real-world rebuild of my development stack — from shutting down legacy PHP systems to adopting modern JavaScript, cloud hosting, updated infrastructure, and AI-assisted workflows.

This journal series documents the process of modernizing years of accumulated systems and rebuilding them into a scalable, future-ready platform ecosystem.

The series covers:

  • legacy system teardown
  • cloud migration
  • modern PHP and JavaScript workflows
  • infrastructure modernization
  • development environment rebuilds
  • AI-assisted development
  • multi-site architecture
  • and the realities of maintaining long-term platforms

Follow the full journey from teardown to relaunch in this three-part series and ongoing modernization journal.

Foxtrot

Experimental Angular Cryptocurrency Wallet

Foxtrot is an experimental Angular-based cryptocurrency wallet project focused on exploring modern front-end architecture, blockchain integrations, authentication workflows, and real-time financial application concepts.

The project serves as both a technical playground and a practical exploration of:

  • Angular application architecture
  • secure wallet workflows
  • API integration
  • real-time data systems
  • modern UI development
  • and scalable front-end engineering practices

Foxtrot represents the experimental side of the ecosystem — where new ideas, frameworks, and workflows can be explored outside of production platform constraints.

Archived Projects

Not every project remains in active development, but many still represent important steps in the evolution of my work as a developer.

Older utilities, experiments, prototypes, and open-source projects have been moved into a dedicated archive section for historical reference and preservation.
