Listening to Feedback: A Change of Direction for SimLeaguesPro

SimLeaguesPro: A Change of Direction

One of the hardest parts of building software is accepting when your assumptions don’t match reality.

Over the past several weeks I’ve been sharing the development of SimLeaguesPro and the Road to 1.0 while inviting commissioners to evaluate the platform and provide honest feedback.

This week I received exactly that.

After spending time using the site from the perspective of an active online league commissioner, the feedback was clear: the project has become too ambitious, too complex, and isn’t yet solving the right problems well enough.

While difficult to hear, it was exactly the kind of feedback I needed.

As a result, I’m made the decision to make a Change of Direction.

Rather than continuing toward the current Road to 1.0 as currently planned, I’m stepping back to reevaluate the best way to launch the project. Over the coming months I’ll be getting back into running an online league myself and using that experience, along with the feedback I’ve received, to better understand where SimLeaguesPro can provide the most value.

As SimLeaguesPro moves forward, it will do so with a much simpler focus: helping commissioners make their leagues easier to discover, easier to join, and easier to manage—not adding unnecessary complexity.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who has followed the project, tested the site, and shared their thoughts.

Sometimes the most valuable milestone in a project isn’t a feature release.

It’s learning you’re solving the wrong problem before it’s too late.

I will continue to write and post other types of posts here on the blog in the coming months about sim games, technology and more. So stay tuned!
